Instructions for using the Sunflower Survey Page

The main page instructions and the two instructions displayed on each state page are intended for general use of the page. However, more information is available by using the instructions below.

Changing the Display Extent

    1. Select the ZOOM button in the table of contents at the left of the page.
    2. Use the mouse (with the left button depressed) to draw a rectangle around the area to be displayed.
    3. Select the FULL EXTENT button to return to entire map.

Identifying Survey Information From Each Point

    1. Select the IDENTIFY button in the table of contents at the left of the page.
    2. Use the left mouse button to select a survey point. The survey information from that point will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.

Adding Other Maps to the Display

    1. Select the LEGEND button in the table of contents at the left of the page. The legend will change from legend to layers.
    2. Display a map of a specific weed, insect or disease by:

      a. Put a check mark in the "square" radio button next to the desired factor.
      b. Select the REFRESH MAP button at the top or bottom of the layer list.
      c. Select the LEGEND button again to display the new legend.
      d. Repeat to change the map display.

Printing a Map

    1. Select the PRINT button in the table of contents at the left of the page. A Print Map section will be displayed at the bottom of the page.
    2. To print the map:

      a. Change the Title to display on the map by selecting the default title and typing over it.

      b. Select the Create Print Page button. A new browser window will open in your computer.

      c. Select the Print button in the new browser window to print the map.

    3. Note: Right-clicking the original map in the Sunflower Survey window will allow you to save a map to your computer for insertion into another computer program such as PowerPoint to Word.

Downloading Data in MS Excel file

Go to the Survey Data files page

Use your left mouse button to select a file and load it into the browser window (newer browsers only)

or

Use your right mouse button to select the file and choose save target as from the pop-up menu to save the excel file on your computer.
